England could send as many as 10 clubs to European competitions! What needs to happen?

Following the final round of the Premier League season, as many as 10 teams could qualify for European competitions. For this to happen, several factors must align perfectly. Below, we outline two scenarios in which England could send a record number of clubs to Europe.

As things stand, Liverpool and Arsenal have already secured their spots in the Champions League, and after triumphing in the Europa League, Tottenham have joined them. Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest are still battling for the remaining Champions League places. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have earned a Europa League berth thanks to their FA Cup victory.

Scenario 1:
Chelsea finish the season in seventh place and defeat Spain’s Betis in the Conference League final.
In this case:

• Champions League: Teams in 1st to 5th place + Tottenham (Europa League winners)
• Europa League: 6th place, Crystal Palace (FA Cup), Chelsea (Conference League winners)
• Conference League: 8th place

Scenario 2:
Chelsea finish sixth and win the Conference League, while Newcastle end the season in seventh.
In this case:

• Champions League: 1st–5th place + Tottenham (Europa League)
• Europa League: Newcastle (7th place), Crystal Palace (FA Cup), Chelsea (6th place and Conference League winners)
• Conference League: 8th place

In both scenarios, the Premier League would send a record 10 clubs to European competitions next season. It’s worth noting that Brighton and Brentford are still in contention for eighth place, and their fate could be decided in the final round.
