End of transfer saga. Barcelona's top target will extend his contract with his current club
The saga surrounding Nico Williams' potential move to Barcelona seems to have reached its conclusion.
According to El Chiringuito, Williams is set to reaffirm his commitment to Athletic Bilbao, not just in words, but by signing a new long-term contract with the club. The club is already working on the new deal, which Williams is expected to sign soon.
Under the new agreement, Williams' release clause, currently set at €60 million, will see a significant increase.
It was also revealed yesterday that Williams will wear the number 10 jersey for Athletic Bilbao in the upcoming season.
The 22-year-old winger became one of the key players for the Spanish national team during their triumphant Euro 2024 campaign, where he scored 2 goals, including one in the final against England, and provided 1 assist.
In 31 La Liga matches last season, Williams scored 5 goals and provided 14 assists.
