Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will not play in any more World Cups following Portugal's elimination from the 2026 tournament.

Details: Portugal lost 0-1 to Spain in the Round of 16, and the 41-year-old Ronaldo announced that this tournament was his final World Cup appearance.

After the match, Cristiano admitted that Portugal was just a bit unlucky. According to him, it was an incredibly tense game, and Spain netted the decisive goal in the dying minutes.

Ronaldo also explained the emotions he showed after the final whistle. The forward noted that it's only natural to feel sad after such an exit, but he leaves the pitch with a clear conscience.

"I did everything I could. That's life as a footballer, and you have to move on," said the Portugal captain.

At the same time, Ronaldo refrained from making any sweeping statements about his overall future. He emphasized that he needs to discuss things with his family and not make any hasty decisions about what's next.

Reminder: Ronaldo participated in the World Cup six times, but never managed to lift the sport's most coveted international trophy.
