Emotional return. Gavi steps onto the pitch for the first time in 7 months to a standing ovation at Camp Nou
Barcelona delivered a commanding 5-2 victory over Sevilla at home in matchday 28 of La Liga. But it wasn’t just the emphatic scoreline that fans will remember—it was the long-awaited return of Gavi.
The 21-year-old midfielder had been sidelined for nearly seven months with a knee injury, last featuring on August 23, 2025. In the 82nd minute, Gavi replaced Raphinha, receiving the captain’s armband from him. The Camp Nou crowd erupted in thunderous applause, chanting “Gavi, Gavi” as their favorite returned to action.
It’s also worth noting that Raphinha netted a hat-trick in this match, with Cancelo and Olmo each adding a goal of their own. Oso and Sow were on target for Sevilla, but Barcelona remain top of the table, four points clear of Real Madrid.
