Emma Raducanu addresses controversy over Wimbledon doubles snub with Andy Murray
British tennis star Emma Raducanu has spoken for the first time about the controversy surrounding her decision not to partner with Andy Murray in the Wimbledon mixed doubles last summer, Daily Mail reports.
The situation escalated when Raducanu announced her withdrawal on the day of the match. For Murray, this Wimbledon was set to be a potential farewell in his illustrious career. Raducanu cited the need to protect her injured wrist ahead of her singles campaign as the reason for her decision.
Her last-minute withdrawal sparked criticism from the tennis community, including a public statement from Andy's mother, Judy Murray, who expressed her disappointment.
Speaking at the Australian Open, Raducanu clarified the incident and shed light on her current relationship with Murray.
"Afterwards I sent him a long message apologising if I caused any trouble at Wimbledon, that's definitely the last thing I want. I sent him a long message and he took it really well and responded saying he was disappointed but he understood. We're fine now," Raducanu explained.
