Eli Kroupi Junior chooses between Ivory Coast and France
The Bournemouth centre-forward, whose father is from Ivory Coast, has clearly stated his preference for the French national team.
Born in Lorient, France, and having played for the French youth teams, Eli Kroupi Junior does not appear to be considering any other option. In an interview with DAZN, the 20-year-old striker explained the reasons behind his choice, highlighting his personal journey and his attachment to French football.
“I’ve always played for the French youth teams. I was born in France, I started playing football in France. I can’t see myself moving to a culture I don’t know! The French national team is the goal,” he said.
Ivory Coast can therefore now put an end to its hopes of attracting the young striker on the basis of his family origins. It remains to be seen, however, whether Eli Kroupi Junior will be able to secure a place in the French national team.
