Egypt has officially stated that it would participate in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). Egypt will be playing in this competition for the first time, as it is only open to players from their native countries. Helmy Toulan, the Egyptian Football Federation's spokesperson, confirmed the story.

The team will be led by youth coach Osama Nabieh and will mainly include players from Egypt's U-20 team. These players are getting ready for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. The team will also have players from the Egyptian Premier League who don't usually start for their clubs. This will create a mix of young players and experienced local professionals.

To choose the final squad, the coaches, technical committee, and Egyptian Football Association are still in communication. According to Osama Nabieh, in order to strengthen the local squad, all Premier League teams have consented to let one player who doesn't play frequently to join the national side.

From February 1 to February 28, CHAN 2025 will be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Egypt's participation is part of the final stages of qualification, with 19 teams scheduled to participate. Two more teams are anticipated to win their seats.

In addition to the sporting excitement, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has significantly increased the tournament's prize money by 75%, with the winners now set to receive $3.5 million.
