Captain of Edmonton Connor McDavid will be sidelined for one to two weeks due to an upper-body injury, as reported on the official Oilers' website. This is a disconcerting development for the team.

Connor McDavid had an impressive start to this season, amassing eight points in five matches, comprising two goals and six assists. Within the Edmonton roster, only Leon Draisaitl has eclipsed this, with nine points (4 goals and 5 assists). However, the commendable statistics of the team's leaders have not translated into success for the Oilers. Edmonton has only secured victory in one of their five matches and accumulated a mere three points out of a possible ten. In light of this inauspicious beginning, McDavid himself had remarked that the team must elevate its performance to another level.

It is worth recalling that Connor McDavid is a five-time recipient of the Art Ross Trophy. In the previous season, the captain of Edmonton amassed 153 points, setting an NHL record for the 21st century.
