Manchester United are making rapid moves in the transfer market this summer. The Red Devils have already reached a full agreement with Italian side Atalanta for the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Ederson. Michael Carrick initially identified strengthening the midfield as a top priority ahead of the new season, and the 25-year-old Brazilian quickly became the club’s primary transfer target.
Details: It seemed the transfer announcement was just hours away, but according to Manchester Evening News, that information was refuted, with a fresh update on the situation. Their sources report that no medical was scheduled for the weekend, and now Manchester United’s top brass will have to be patient and wait longer than originally anticipated.

The official completion of the transfer has been delayed due to sudden changes in the player’s international schedule. Ederson was not initially included in Brazil’s main squad for the 2026 World Cup, but a muscle injury to defender Wesley opened the door for the Atalanta midfielder—he received an emergency late call-up and flew out to join the national team for the tournament.
Now Manchester United will only be able to finalize the deal and sign all legal documents after the Seleção complete their World Cup campaign in North America.
Reminder: Manchester United could bolster their midfield with two young talents.
