Bruno Guimarães has surged to the top of the 2026 World Cup assist rankings following Brazil’s clash with Japan.
Details: In the round of 16 match against Japan, the Newcastle midfielder delivered a decisive assist deep into stoppage time. His pass set up Gabriel Martinelli for the match-winning goal in the 95th minute, sealing a 2-1 victory for Brazil and sending them through to the quarterfinals.
Guimarães now boasts four assists at World Cup 2026. Previously, he set up a goal in the 1-1 draw with Morocco, and twice provided for teammates in the 3-0 victory over Scotland.
