DR Congo sanctioned by FIFA
A fine of €5,500
This sanction relates to the final of the African play-offs for the 2026 World Cup, played against Nigeria.
The Congolese national team has been sanctioned for the behaviour of its supporters during this decisive match, which was won by the Leopards. They were found guilty of using laser pointers during the match, reports the Congolese media outlet Leopardsfoot.
FIFA has therefore decided to impose a fine of €5,500. This sanction is unrelated to the appeal lodged by Nigeria regarding the eligibility of Congolese players.
It should be noted that the DR Congo Leopards are preparing to contest the final of the inter-continental play-off scheduled to take place in Mexico at the end of March 2026.
