DR Congo players want Lumumba at the World Cup
The Leopards formally requested this of the President of the Republic this Sunday 5 April.
Having qualified for the World Cup to be held next summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Democratic Republic of Congo national team wants to be accompanied by its star supporter, Lumumba. The players officially made this request to the Congolese President during the celebrations marking the Leopards’ qualification this Sunday 5 April 2026.
The squad does not want to travel without its iconic supporter after he missed the intercontinental play-off final in Mexico due to a lack of a visa. The Congolese players even want Lumumba to be officially included in the delegation and for all necessary arrangements for his presence to be made.
This fan, who pays tribute to the former Congolese prime minister, went viral during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
