DR Congo and Uganda share the spoils in second friendly
The Leopards and the Cranes played out a 1-1 draw on Monday 5 October at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, in the second leg of their two-legged international friendly series.
After Uganda won the first leg, the Democratic Republic of the Congo were determined to bounce back. However, both teams produced a particularly hard-fought first half, without managing to find the back of the net.
It wasn’t until the second half that the deadlock was broken. Nathanael Mbuku opened the scoring in the 64th minute, giving the DR Congo a 1–0 lead.
Just as the Leopards seemed to be heading for victory, Uganda found the resources to get back into the game. James Bogere equalised in the 90th minute to level the score at 1–1.
No further goals were scored until the final whistle. Following their defeat in the first leg, the DR Congo therefore had to settle for a draw to round off their international break against Uganda.
