Done deal! City star officially swaps Manchester for Tyneside
Newcastle have landed their main midfield target of the summer.
Details: As Fabrizio Romano confirms, Nico González officially joins Newcastle United on a £47 million plus £3 million add-ons deal from Manchester City. The agreement between the clubs was reached back on Monday, and now the transfer has been fully confirmed.

The 24-year-old Spanish midfielder moved to City from Porto in February 2025 for €60 million, but never secured a starting spot: last season he made 41 appearances, starting only two Premier League games after January. Matthias Jaissle's Newcastle, who tracked the Spaniard throughout the window, see him as a cornerstone of the new project at St James' Park.
For City, this sale is part of a major squad overhaul after a disappointing season by their standards. It's worth noting that the Magpies will recoup part of their investment in the future: the deal structure with add-ons could bring the total package to £50 million.
Reminder: Major deal brewing in the Premier League! Newcastle target Manchester City midfielder.
