Fernando Diniz was dismissed from the position of head coach of the Brazilian national team on January 5th, as reported by Globo.

The decision to end the collaboration with the coach was made by the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation Ednaldo Rodrigues.

The 49-year-old Diniz was appointed as the interim head coach of the Brazilian national team on July 4th 2023, signing a one-year contract.

Under his guidance, Seleção played six matches, winning two, drawing once, and losing three. Currently, the Brazilian national team stands sixth in the World Cup qualifying campaign.

The likely successor to Diniz is São Paulo's head coach, Dorival Junior. Rodrigues plans to meet with Junior soon to discuss the terms of the contract.

It was previously reported that José Mourinho declined the opportunity to lead the Brazilian national team.
