Didi Dramani Confident as Ghana Prepares for CHAN Clash Against Nigeria
Mas Ud Didi Dramani, Ghana's home-based national team coach, is upbeat about the country's chances of defeating rival Nigeria in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifications. The return match will take place at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, while the first leg will be hosted by the Black Galaxies in the Accra Sports Stadium on December 22.
Dramani stressed the importance of staying focused rather than just thinking about the rivalry. He said, "We respect the past, but our main goal is to prepare well in terms of skills, strategies, and mindset." He encouraged his players to stay calm and use this chance to create history.
Nigeria’s coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting his team’s readiness and determination. “We’ve worked diligently to address weaknesses and strategize for Ghana’s formidable team,” he said.
The victor of this two-leg match will guarantee a place in the CHAN tournament, which Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya are hosting. In the 2022 qualifications, Ghana had already defeated Nigeria on penalties.
