One of Los Blancos’ main stars, Vinicius Junior, described Alonso’s session as “very intense.” Months later, it emerged that Vinicius and several other squad members were dissatisfied with Alonso’s methods and did not support the coach’s vision.

For the record, Xabi Alonso left the club after their defeat in the Spanish Super Cup, where Real Madrid fell to Barcelona with a 2-3 scoreline.
