Five months ago, during another round of negotiations, the Brazilian made it clear to Real Madrid that he would not sign a new deal as long as Xabi Alonso remained head coach.

Now that Alonso has left his position, Vinicius has no objective reasons to turn down a new contract—aside from financial demands.

In Madrid, it’s understood that the most likely time for Vinicius to extend his contract is at the end of the season, but the club’s management is prepared to resume negotiations as early as this winter.

This season, Vinicius Junior has made 28 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists. His current deal with the “Galácticos” runs until the summer of 2027, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €150 million.
