In the second-leg match of the English League Cup semi-final, we witnessed a clash between Manchester City and Newcastle. After this encounter, the name of the second finalist was confirmed.
The first leg ended in a 2–0 victory for City, and the Magpies travelled to the Etihad hoping to salvage the tie, but the hosts quickly put the contest beyond doubt.
In the seventh minute, the Citizens opened the scoring. Midway through the second half, Manchester added two more goals within a three-minute span, effectively killing off the tie. Newcastle responded with a single goal, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
As a result of the two semi-finals and their return legs, the identities of both finalists of the English League Cup are now known. Arsenal and Manchester City will battle it out for the trophy.
