Nearly a year later, details have emerged about midfielder Thomas Partey's departure from London side Arsenal.
Details: In the summer of 2025, then-Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey became the subject of a high-profile criminal case, facing allegations of a series of rapes. The player was under investigation and released on bail pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
The footballer was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving several women. Several reputable sources also reported that the case was expanded to seven incidents involving four different alleged victims.
Despite this, the Gunners—and Arteta in particular—tried to extend the Ghanaian's contract, attempting to include clauses during negotiations that would protect the club in the event of prosecution, but no agreement was reached.
As a result, Partey moved to Villarreal, where he made 32 appearances this season but failed to register a goal or assist. The midfielder will leave the Spanish club at the end of the campaign.
