On Sunday, August 11, the final day of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, one of the last events saw Denmark and Germany face off in the men's handball final.
The Danish team claimed the gold medal with a commanding 39-26 victory.
Notably, Denmark's attacking leader Mathias Gidsel scored 11 goals from 13 attempts in the final, making him the top scorer of the Olympic tournament with 62 goals.
This marks Denmark's second Olympic gold in men's handball, with their first win coming in Rio 2016. In the 2021 Tokyo Games, Denmark fell short in the final.
In the bronze medal match, Spain narrowly defeated Slovenia 23-22.
