Denied! Richards bay deny AmaZulu a third place spot with a thumping 2-0 win to secure Kwa-Zulu natal derby bragging rights
Moses Mthembu and Wandile Ngema ensured AmaZulu do not jump to the PSL’s third spot when they scored both goals for Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership match last night.
Maximum points for Arthur Zwane’s Usuthu would have seen them jump to third spot with 24 points, one away from table toppers Mamelodi Sundowns.
But Richards Bay had other ideas at home.
The current PSL season is turning out to be the most competitive one is years as by this time of the campaign in previous years, Sundowns would be having more than 10-point gap.
Sundowns’ dominant seasons were a result of a dominant first round in the PSL standings.
So far it does not seem this will be the case this season as more than three teams have started the season impressively with not much point gap between them and Sundowns.
Orlando Pirates are on same number of points as Sundowns, 25, something unheard of or rare in local football given how the men from Chloorkop have bossed the PSL.
AmaZulu just lack consistency as they are one of the sides with a potential and a realistic chance of giving this championship a different turn this season.
Usuthu remain sixth on the table while Richards Bay are ninth place.
