Ireland found itself in an extremely unusual situation ahead of its match against Israel. The team was forced to register defender Jimmy Dunne as its third goalkeeper for the upcoming fixture.
The decision was prompted by goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu's refusal to take part in the match against Israel. The footballer said he was unwilling to take the field because he believes the killing of civilians is wrong and opposes the tragic events unfolding in the region, stressing that his position is not directed against Israelis or the Jewish community.
