Decision made in Berlin! Aleksander Čeferin will seek a fourth term at the helm of UEFA
The head of European football's governing body has officially confirmed his readiness to retain the leadership position for another term.
Details: UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has announced his decision to run for a fourth term at the helm of the governing body in the 2027 elections.
The Slovenian official informed delegates of his decision during a special summit in Berlin attended by the heads of all 55 national football associations on the continent. The association chiefs welcomed the initiative with broad support, expressing their confidence in the current reform agenda.
The announcement marked a change from the leader's previous plans, as he had earlier stated that he intended to leave office in 2027. However, the united position of Europe's football associations and the need to maintain stability in tournament administration convinced the president to seek re-election.
It is worth noting that Aleksander Čeferin has led UEFA since September 2016, being consistently re-elected to the highest post in European football in 2019 and 2023.
