Debut delayed. Bayern's summer rookie Ito has undergone another operation

Bayern Munich's summer acquisition of Japanese international center-back Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart has turned into a significant disappointment.

Details: Bayern officially announced that Ito underwent a second surgery on his metatarsal bone today. His recovery is expected to take several months, ruling him out for the remainder of the year.

Ito initially fractured his metatarsal during preseason preparations and has yet to make his debut for Bayern.

The club paid Stuttgart €23.5 million for his transfer. Last season, Ito was a key defender under coach Sebastian Hoeneß, contributing to the team's second-place finish in the Bundesliga.
