Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi explained the decision to leave Mason Greenwood on the bench in recent matches against Lens and PSG.

Greenwood, who continues to compete for the top scorer title in Ligue 1 with 15 goals in 26 matches, has been a key player for most of the season. However, he found himself on the bench in the latest games. Some sources in France reported that the reason lies in Greenwood's insufficient work rate, and he might leave the club at the end of the season.

De Zerbi confirmed at a press conference that Greenwood was not ready for the intense season, especially after the birth of his daughter, which might have affected his physical condition. The coach also noted that the player did not always give his best in training, which impacted his preparation. Nonetheless, De Zerbi emphasized that Greenwood is a good person and expressed support for the player despite the challenges he has faced.

Currently, Greenwood has applied to change his international allegiance, wishing to play for the Jamaican national team instead of England.
