After leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2023, long-serving Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea is still without a club, but it seems the Spaniard could be on his way back to big football.

According to Mundo Deportivo, interest in the 33-year-old goalkeeper is being shown by Barcelona, who see de Gea as the perfect replacement for Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has only recently returned from back surgery.

Having suffered a back injury during the November international break, ter Stegen underwent surgery that put him out of action until earlier this month. He will return for the game against Granada on 11 February.

In his absence, Inaki Peña has been included in the line-up. The 24-year-old has played 17 games this season, but has dropped back to the number two position following Ter Stegen's return.

Earlier it was reported about the interest in de Gea from Nottingham Forest, but it did not come to the transfer.
