Danny Jordaan on Safa's Standard Bank sponsorship: This is a turning point and a significant moment for South African football
Danny Jordaan is pleased that Safa has received backing from South Africa’s banking giants Standard Bank.
Safa and the bank today announced a partnership between the two organisations which will last for the next three years.
Jordaan hailed the sponsorship as the game-changer for their organisation.
“This is the most significant moment for South African football to have a Standard Bank, a major financial brand with a strong continental presence. As a partner, this partnership marks an important milestone on the journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. And that comes after a 15-year wait for success at the level of Bafana,” said Jordaan.
“Banyana is also on the way to the CAF Women’s Nations Cup and from the Women’s Nations Cup. Four teams will qualify for the World Cup in Brazil in 2027, so both are two major national teams on the way to the highest level of competition in the world.
“The challenge is not only for the current and the present, but our success to be sustainable must continue beyond Mexico, beyond the United States, and beyond Canada. So we are looking at this as a significant moment so that the brand is sustained. And what we have to do then is to look at the beginning of a new term, a longer term, and that comes in the form of what we call a SAFA vision 2030.”
