Details: In an interview with German publication BILD, the Real Madrid forward was asked whether he could imagine continuing to represent France at the age of 41, just as Cristiano Ronaldo is currently doing for Portugal. Mbappé responded with a cheeky remark about the difference between the two national teams.
Asked whether he could play for France until the age of 41, like Ronaldo, the French captain replied:
"Let's be honest, considering the country I play for: France will never let me play until I'm 41," Mbappé said with a laugh.
However, the Frenchman was quick to acknowledge Ronaldo's remarkable longevity. Mbappé stressed that Cristiano has demonstrated how players who maintain their physical and mental fitness can continue competing at the highest level for many years. Nevertheless, he admitted that he does not believe such a long international career would be possible in his own case.
The comparison comes as Ronaldo continues to represent Portugal at 41, while Mbappé, now 27, remains the captain of France. The two footballers have also developed a close friendship, with the French striker recently revealing that his childhood idol has become someone he can turn to for advice and support.
It is worth noting that Ronaldo has been included in Portugal's squad for the September international fixtures. The Portuguese national team will face Wales on September 24 in the UEFA Nations League, while France will begin their campaign against Türkiye on September 25.
