Al-Nassr’s star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of the squad for the Saudi club’s away AFC Champions League group-stage match against Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor.

Details: According to talkSPORT, head coach Ange Postecoglou decided to rest his captain due to an extremely congested fixture schedule and accumulated fatigue from long flights.

Alongside the 41-year-old Portuguese star, other key players, including Kingsley Coman and Mohamed Simakan, also did not travel to Saudi Arabia for the fixture. The coaching staff opted to protect their leading players after a demanding stretch of the season, despite Ronaldo’s spectacular hat-trick in the previous match.

The absence of the team’s biggest star weakens Al-Nassr’s attacking threat in the away clash in Tashkent, but it gives the veteran a much-needed break to recover his strength. The club’s management and coaching staff are counting on the squad’s depth to navigate a challenging continental schedule successfully.
