Al-Nassr’s victory over Al-Ettifaq was overshadowed by concerning news regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s health.
Details: As it emerged after the final whistle, the 41-year-old forward played nearly the entire match while battling a serious illness. Head coach Jorge Jesus confirmed that the Portuguese star’s condition deteriorated sharply immediately after he was substituted late in the game.
The Al-Nassr boss admitted that Ronaldo’s participation was in doubt due to his physical condition.
“I was considering not including Ronaldo in the squad for this game. Cristiano wasn’t in his best shape. He was suffering from stomach pains and general discomfort,” Jesus revealed.
Despite feeling unwell, the captain insisted on playing, but his body couldn’t withstand the strain: when Ronaldo was subbed off in the 89th minute, he immediately headed to the dressing room, where he vomited.
It’s worth noting that the match ended with a 1-0 win for Al-Nassr.
