Former US national team goalkeeper and ESPN analyst Kasey Keller has cast a skeptical eye on the rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential move to Major League Soccer.

Details: According to the veteran, the 41-year-old Portuguese forward is at a stage in his career where any major injury could mark the end of the road.

“Honestly, I think he’s really just one injury away from retirement,” Keller said, emphasizing that at this age, no amount of iron willpower can make recovery easy for an athlete.

Keller doesn’t deny that Ronaldo is obsessed with the idea of scoring 1,000 official goals. However, the expert questions whether that goal is worth the demands Major League Soccer would place on him. Joining the MLS system at 41 or 42 means enduring grueling cross-country flights, constant time-zone changes, and playing on artificial turf—an enormous strain for a player of his age.

"I don’t know if he’ll want to fly across the country with an MLS team for something that’s so unclear," Keller added.

He hinted that after the comfort of Saudi Arabia, where logistics are much simpler and Ronaldo’s status is unquestioned, the relentless schedule of the American league could seem pointless to the Portuguese icon. For Cristiano, who’s used to having total control over his body, the chaos of MLS could feel more like a burden than a fitting end to his illustrious career.

Reminder: Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Al Nassr stadium for the first time since the onset of military actions.
