In the latest round of the Spanish La Liga, Girona defeated Athletic Bilbao at home, securing the victory in the 90+9 minute.

In this match, 37-year-old Girona forward Cristhian Stuani set an incredible record in the tournament's history. He came on as a substitute during stoppage time and six minutes later converted a penalty to bring his team a crucial win.

This goal marked Stuani's 29th in La Liga after coming on as a substitute, surpassing the record of the renowned Spanish striker Julio Salinas, which had stood for over 20 years. Salinas had scored 28 goals after coming on as a substitute.

After the ninth round, Girona climbed to 11th place in the standings, now holding 12 points.
