Cristian Romero named best player of the Europa League season
Yesterday, Tottenham edged past Manchester United (1-0) in the Europa League final, and today one of their players has received a UEFA accolade.
Details: Tottenham’s center-back Cristian Romero has been officially named the best player of this season’s Europa League.
The 27-year-old World Cup winner appeared in just one group stage match due to injuries, but in the knockout rounds he missed only the first-leg clash with AZ Alkmaar in the round of 16.
With Romero in the lineup, Tottenham won 6 out of 7 matches in this Europa League campaign.
Reminder: Romero was among those players who didn’t receive a medal during the Europa League winners’ ceremony. However, UEFA has already apologized for the incident and has delivered all missing medals to the club.
