Courtois calls Real Madrid's Champions League win the worst moment of his career
Thibaut Courtois – a Real Madrid legend – revealed in his documentary that this club has also caused him the most pain in his career.
Details: Courtois was asked about the worst moment of his career, and the experienced Belgian goalkeeper pointed to the 2013/14 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, back when he was Atlético’s starting goalkeeper.
In that match, Diego Simeone’s side led 1-0, only to concede an equalizer from Sergio Ramos in the third minute of added time, and eventually lose in a penalty shootout.
Quote:
"Most painful moment of my career? The Champions League final with Atletico Madrid against Real Madrid. We had a great year, won La Liga, and then you reach the 93rd minute of the Champions League final where you’re so close to winning, and it slips away”.
Reminder: Courtois missed almost all of last season due to an ACL injury but recovered just in time to play in Real Madrid's victorious Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund (2-0).
This season, Courtois hasn’t missed a single match so far.
