American holding company Friedkin Group (TFG) has unexpectedly expanded its plans for Everton’s future, leaving open the possibility of a full sale of the Merseyside club.

Details: Initially, less than two years after acquiring a 94-percent stake from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024, the group’s management planned to limit its efforts to bringing in minority investors to support the project. However, sources now confirm that the owners are also open to selling a controlling stake if a buyer capable of taking the club to the next level emerges.

At the same time, TFG is in no rush to part ways with the club and is prepared to continue supporting it for as long as necessary to find the ideal investor. During its tenure, the American group has done a huge amount of work to stabilize the club’s finances: it refinanced costly debt, secured lower interest rates on loans for the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, and also brought investment into the structure from figures such as Jason Kidd and Christopher Sarofim.

Nevertheless, the news of a potential sale emerged against the backdrop of a difficult end to the summer transfer window, during which the club sold players for £100 million in order to turn a profit but faced criticism from supporters after key deals collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles, signed from Lyon for €5 million, became the club’s only acquisition on the final day of the transfer window after a £45 million move for Folarin Balogun from Monaco fell through when the United States striker pulled out of the deal.
