DOUBTFUL! Aubrey Modiba could lose out on Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana World Cup squad when its announced tomorrow

Aubrey Modiba could miss out on the World Cup next month.

The Mamelodi Sundowns left-back missed out on the Caf Champions League final on Sunday night through injury and reading from his coach's comments, it does seem like Modiba may not go to the World Cup.

Hugo Broos announced his Bafana Bafana squad for the global showpiece tomorrow.

“Today, there are three players who are potential Bafana Bafana players who could not play: Thapelo Morena, Aubrey Modiba, Bathusi Aubaas,” said Cardoso on Sunday night. “They are not here because in the last month, they were exposed to something that was not normal. And they also could not play a final.”

Modiba limped off in the first leg match against ASFAR at Loftus Versveld where he scored a freekick.

His absence in the national side could hurt Hugo Broos' plans as Modiba has not only proved dependable but the national side has no other established left back to play in his absence.

Even in the preliminary squad announced by Broos last week, Modiba is the only left back in the squad.

It will be interesting what plan Broos has should Modiba miss out.
