On Wednesday, June 11, two more group stage matches of the COSAFA Cup took place. With their conclusion, all the teams advancing to the semifinals of the tournament have been confirmed.
Details: Each group sent one team to the playoffs—four groups, four semifinalists. The biggest drama unfolded in Group A, where three teams finished level on four points. South Africa advanced to the semifinals—Bafana Bafana had the best goal difference among their rivals.
There was no such suspense in Group B: Angola claimed two wins and drew once. In Group C, Madagascar's four points were enough to secure a spot in the next round. The same scenario played out in Group D, as Comoros also advanced to the semifinals with four points.
That sets up a fierce battle for a place in the final between South Africa, Angola, Madagascar, and Comoros. The semifinal pairings are as follows:
- South Africa vs Comoros
- Angola vs Madagascar
The matches will be played on Friday, June 13.
