Controversy in Cameroon After Marc Brys’ Comments on Eto’o Controversy in Cameroon After Marc Brys’ Comments on Eto’o

Cameroon’s head coach, Marc Brys, has sparked controversy with a provocative statement during the 2025 AFCON draw, saying: “We are not afraid of Eto’o, so we are not afraid of Ivory Coast either.”

The remark angered many, including Malian artist Mokobé, who saw it as disrespectful to Samuel Eto’o, the president of Cameroon’s Football Federation.

While Brys’ agent, Ivo Chi, defended him by claiming the statement was not insulting, many fans viewed it as unnecessary provocation.

In a challenging group, Cameroon will play Ivory Coast, Gabon, and Mozambique.

The matchup with the defending champions is expected to be more than simply a football game; it is already igniting discussions both on and off the field.
