Conflict far from over! Jorge Jesus lays down conditions for Ronaldo's Portugal comeback
Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the Portugal national team is proving far more complicated than expected.
Details: According to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah, citing a source close to Jorge Jesus, the Portugal head coach is willing to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo back into the national team, but only if an understanding is reached over the strict conditions and rules he has established. The coach reportedly refuses to abandon the principles that initially sparked the conflict.
The source claims that Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença continues his attempts to arrange an official meeting between the two sides. However, he has yet to secure an agreement on holding the talks, leaving Ronaldo's international future uncertain.
The dispute began when the 41-year-old forward remained on the bench throughout Portugal's match against Norway despite warming up. Tensions escalated after Jesus announced that Ronaldo would not start against Denmark, prompting the captain to leave the national team camp.
Ronaldo subsequently accused the manager of breaking two promises made during their private conversations. Although the legendary striker apologized to supporters and teammates for leaving the camp, the disagreement over his role in the squad has not been fully resolved.
It is worth noting that on October 19, the Portuguese Football Federation handed Ronaldo a 30-day suspension and a €255 fine for leaving the national team camp. The forward remains Portugal's all-time leading scorer, with 146 goals in 234 international appearances.
Reminder: Ronaldo furious! His 982nd goal taken away!
