Recent statements by Liverpool leader Mohamed Salah that no one from the club has offered him a new contract and he intends to leave the team, apparently, became a cold shower for the bosses of the ‘scousers’ and those came to their senses.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Merseysiders are ready to enter into negotiations with the striker on a new agreement in the near future. The transfer window is closed, so it is safe to discuss the future of the Egyptian.

‘Arne Slot is very happy with him and they want to keep him at the club, so at the moment it all depends on the negotiations that will take place between Mo and Liverpool in the next few months. The situation for Mo is quite clear. He would be very happy to continue his career at Liverpool and I can confirm that. I think it's a very important part of the story,’ Romano said on the Debrief podcast.

Admittedly, time is short for the Merseysiders. Salah has a contract until June 2025, and if the contract is not extended by January of that year, the Egyptian will be free to sign a tentative deal with any club from the start of 2025, and therefore free to leave Liverpool next summer.
