Club World Cup participant handed FIFA transfer ban
The revamped Club World Cup has introduced plenty of innovations, including a second summer transfer window. However, it seems not everyone will be able to take advantage of this new development.
Details: According to FIFA's official website, on Friday, May 9, Moroccan side Wydad were slapped with a transfer ban for three transfer windows. The reasons behind this decision have not been disclosed, nor has the club itself issued any statements on the matter as of today.
Reminder: At the Club World Cup, Wydad were drawn into a group with Juventus, Manchester City, and UAE's Al Ain. At the end of April, the Casablanca-based club parted ways with South African coach Rhulani Mokwena after the team struggled in the league under his stewardship and lost their chance to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
