Closer to the fans! The Premier League introduces new broadcast rules
The new rules will come into effect as early as the upcoming season.
Details: The new Premier League campaign promises unique experiences—thanks to the introduction of innovative broadcast regulations, fans will get even closer to the action and enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes access to football showdowns.
One of the most exciting changes is the opportunity to interview players right during the match. Journalists will be allowed to approach the bench or wait for a player at the touchline to ask a few questions immediately after a substitution.
The second key update grants media representatives access to team dressing rooms before kick-off, during halftime, and after the final whistle. However, this rule won't apply during coach's team talks or tactical briefings. In addition, camera operators will be allowed to capture goal celebrations if they're equipped with a portable Steadicam.
These developments became possible thanks to a partnership between the Premier League and media giants Sky Sports and TNT Sports. Reports indicate contracts have been signed for more than £6.7 billion over four years. As part of the agreement, the Premier League is obliged to provide enhanced behind-the-scenes access at all tournament matches, and every club must open its doors to the media at least twice a season.
