UEFA’s Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Committee has decided to impose sanctions on the stadium of Real Madrid.

Details: During the Champions League match against Benfica, a fan in the “Grada de Animación” (the south stand) was caught on camera making a Nazi salute. Despite Real Madrid’s swift actions to remove the fan from the stadium, the UEFA Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Committee opted to sanction the Madrid club.

The committee ruled for a partial closure of the south stand for one match, along with a financial penalty. However, the stadium closure has been suspended, as Los Blancos have been placed on a one-year probation.

Reminder: The issue of racism in matches against Benfica dates back to the first game against the Portuguese side, where a conflict broke out between Brazilian Vinícius Júnior and Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni.
