Clinical Japanese side thumped the South Africans 3-0 in the last 32 match in Under-17 World Cup
Vela Kumalo’s Amajimbos ended their fairytale run in Qatar with a 3-0 loss to a clinical Japanese side earlier today.
Amajimbos made history by reaching this global spectacle’s last 32, something which has never been done before by a South African side.
Selwyn Steven, Neo Bohloko and Emile Witbooi did make forward forays for the South Africa but failure to hit the target was their downfall.
Lwandiso Radebe, the South African goalkeeper, was called into action in the 20th minute when he left his line to block an onrushing Shimon Kobayashi from opening the score for the Japanese.
Shaun Els was also a thorn in the Japanese defence but he was denied by the Japanese man in goals.
The difference between the two team is that Amajimbos depended on individual brilliance while the Japanese were focused on team effort.
Hiroto Asada, Minato Yoshida and Shota Fuji scored the goals for the Japanese side.
Radebe had to be substituted and all three goals were scored when reserve goalkeeper Keabetswe Morake replaced the injured Radebe.
