Arsenal could land Mingueza on a free transfer.

Details: According to The Mirror, London side Arsenal are looking to lure 26-year-old Celta Vigo defensive stalwart Óscar Mingueza to the Emirates.

Reports indicate that Mingueza's contract with Celta runs out this summer, and Arsenal are hoping to persuade the player not to sign a new deal—allowing the Gunners to snap up another central defender without paying a transfer fee.

Signing Mingueza is believed to be the brainchild of head coach Mikel Arteta, who sees the Spanish defender as the ideal option to challenge his current crop of defenders.

This season, Mingueza has made 38 appearances for Celta, scoring once and providing six assists. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €18 million.

Reminder: Arsenal deliver a gift to the entire Premier League for next season
