Clause or nothing! Atletico slam the door on Alvarez exit with a €490 million price tag
The summer's biggest transfer saga has just hit a half-billion-euro wall.
Details: According to Marca, Atletico Madrid insist Julian Alvarez is staying and will only consider his €490 million release clause or nothing. The club have already rejected Barcelona's €100 million offer and Real Madrid's €150 million bid this summer, and even filed a complaint to FIFA over alleged tapping-up.

The stance was reinforced by CEO Gil Marin, who claimed the club would not accept even 200 million for their striker, whose contract runs until June 2030. Alvarez has publicly pushed for his dream move to Barcelona since the World Cup, was left out of the La Liga opener and reportedly even rejected Arsenal, but Atletico simply refuse to negotiate.
It's worth noting that since joining Atletico from Manchester City in 2024, Alvarez has scored 49 goals for the club in two seasons, which explains why the Rojiblancos have turned his clause into a fortress. With ten days left in the window, Barcelona have already started looking at alternatives.
Reminder: Barcelona's plans in ruins! The Catalans pull the plug on Alvarez transfer and opt for a surprising alternative.
