Barcelona's plans in ruins! The Catalans pull the plug on Álvarez transfer and opt for a surprising alternative
The transfer priorities of the Catalan giants have taken an unexpected turn.
Details: According to the reputable Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona's management has completely ruled out the signing of Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez. The club concluded that finalizing this deal is simply not feasible due to financial demands and Atlético's firm stance.
Instead, the Blaugrana have shifted all their focus to securing the signature of Celta's forward Borja Iglesias. Reports indicate Barcelona is going all out to complete the transfer of the 33-year-old Spanish striker before the summer window closes.
It's worth noting that last season Borja Iglesias made 35 appearances for Celta across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists. According to Transfermarkt, the experienced forward's market value stands at €2.8 million.
