Chelsea will abandon the signing of Osimhen and is already exploring alternative options
Chelsea's plans to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli are in jeopardy due to the Nigerian striker's high salary demands. According to The Sun, Osimhen has requested a contract worth £500,000 per week, which would make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
Initially, the Blues tried to secure Osimhen on loan to avoid paying the £110 million release clause, but Napoli rejected this offer. Recent reports indicate that the Italian club has lowered the asking price to a more acceptable £85 million, but the salary issue remains a challenge.
Due to Osimhen's astronomical salary demands, Chelsea has begun exploring alternative options, such as Federico Chiesa from Juventus and Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton.
Although the London club has already signed five new attackers this summer, head coach Maresca has emphasized the need for one more transfer. Currently, the team has only two central forwards—Nicolas Jackson and new recruit Mark Guiu.
