Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel was one of the most talked-about names in the recent transfer window. As it turns out, his move to Tottenham was not a foregone conclusion.

Details: According to L’Équipe, while Tel’s entourage was waiting for a flight to London at Le Bourget Airport, Chelsea representatives approached them in an attempt to sway the player’s decision. However, their efforts were unsuccessful.

Reminder: Tel joined Tottenham on loan until the end of the season, with no purchase option included in the deal. The player himself later admitted that Ange Postecoglou’s project was the best offer for him.

Earlier reports suggested that, besides Chelsea and Tottenham, several other clubs, including Manchester United, were also monitoring Tel’s situation.
